Tellicherry Black Pepper in a Refillable Pepper Mill - Buy an exceptional pepper

The Tellicherry Black Pepper from Comptoir de Toamasina is part of the Arnaud Sion selection, the creator of Comptoir de Toamasina.

For less than 6 euros, you get a refillable pepper mill with a pepper with a delicate spiciness, an intense pepper with citrus notes that is a blend between lemon and grapefruit. It's a very long-lasting pepper.

I wanted to offer you unique piper nigrum peppercorns just for my family company, Comptoir de Toamasina. We have a weight of 500g per liter, a sign of the pepper's Astra quality.

But what is Astra quality?

  • Astra quality pepper is a standard you'll come across when you buy pepper from a producing country. It's a pepper with a beautiful wrinkled color and, above all, a weight per liter of 500g. The larger the peppercorn, the more room it takes up.

Tellicherry pepper was one of the first peppers to arrive in Europe. It comes from the Malabar coast. In the days of the great Portuguese navigators, it was the best-selling pepper in Europe, along with long pepper.

I'd like to tell you that in Kerala, you're in a state that produces a lot of spices. 70% of the spices produced in India come from this state.

Don't hesitate to discover our range of refillable pepper mills.

What does Tellicherry Black Pepper taste like?

When you buy tellicherry black pepper in our refillable pepper mill. You'll discover a pepper with a mild spiciness, a flowery pepper with notes of citrus and undergrowth. A unique woody touch.

How to use Tellicherry black pepper in sweet and savoury dishes

Tellicherry black pepper is renowned for its complexity of flavors and can be an excellent black pepper for sweet and savory dishes. Here are a few tips on how to use it to its best advantage:

  1. Always use freshly ground: Use freshly ground to preserve its full aroma. Avoid grinding it in advance, opting instead for a manual grinder for better control.
  2. Balanced dosage: Use sparingly so as not to overpower the other flavours in the dish. A subtle touch of Tellicherry pepper may be enough to enhance the aromas without overpowering them.
  3. Adding at the end of cooking: Add it at the end of cooking to preserve its delicate nuances. High temperatures can alter its aromas, so add it just before serving for optimum flavor.
  4. Creative combinations: Experiment with red fruit or chocolate for an unexpectedly creative touch. For example, on a chocolate fondant, lightly sprinkle freshly ground Tellicherry pepper to add a surprisingly spicy note.

How to store tellicherry black pepper

Storage of Tellicherry black pepper, like that of many other spices, is based on three essential principles:

    1. Protection from humidity: this pepper should be stored in a dry place, away from moisture. Moisture can alter the spice's flavor and encourage the formation of mold, compromising its quality. We recommend storing in an airtight container to avoid contact with air humidity.
    2. Keep away from light and heat: It must be protected from direct sunlight and excessive heat. Heat can cause degradation of the essential oils that give the spice its characteristic aroma. It is therefore best to store it in a cool, dark place, such as a cupboard or kitchen drawer.
    3. Use an airtight container: To preserve maximum freshness and flavor, we recommend storing it in an airtight container, such as a glass jar or food-grade plastic container. Make sure the container seals tightly to avoid exposure to air, which can lead to loss of flavor over time.
