Guarana or Coffee: Which One Should You Choose?
This is the question I get asked the most since my video on iced guarana. Here is my honest answer, depending on the time of day and what you're looking for.

I drink both, almost every day. The question isn't really "which one is better," but rather "which one for which moment."
In my YouTube Short on iced guarana, I shared that a hot espresso isn't always the right reflex on very hot days. Many people asked in the comments: "So should I completely replace my coffee with guarana?" Here is my answer, without choosing for you.
What Truly Sets Them Apart
| Criterion | Guarana | Coffee |
|---|---|---|
| Origin | Amazonian seed, Brazil | Coffee bean, multiple origins |
| Caffeine | Highly concentrated, gradual release (tannins) | Concentrated, fast release |
| Felt Effect | Smooth, long-lasting energy boost | Immediate energy surge |
| Ideal For | Hot days, sustained energy | Quick wake-up, morning ritual |
| Preparation | Cold-mix, no machine needed | Requires hot brewing |
My Practical Answer
I never completely replace my coffee with guarana, and doing the opposite wouldn't make sense either: they are two different tools. In the morning, for the ritual and a quick wake-up call, I stick with coffee. Mid-day, especially when it's hot, iced guarana takes over: no need to heat anything up, and the energy lasts longer without sudden slumps.
If you had to pick just one for the summer, I would lean toward iced guarana on hot days and keep coffee for other moments of the day.
Don't feel forced to pick a side. Try iced guarana on a hot afternoon instead of your usual 3 PM coffee, and see how your body responds. It's the best way to learn which one suits you best and when.

FAQ — Guarana or Coffee
Can I drink both guarana and coffee on the same day?
Yes, but keep an eye on your overall daily caffeine intake to avoid consuming too much across the day.
Does guarana truly replace coffee?
It can replace it for specific moments, such as afternoons or hot days, but it doesn't replicate the exact same ritual or immediate surge.
Which one should I choose for the afternoon?
Iced guarana is often much more comfortable in the afternoon, especially during summer: no extra hot drink required, and a smooth energy boost with no crash.
