BLACK PEPPER FROM TANZANIA - OUR HOTTEST PEPPER AND FOR US THE HOTTEST PEPPER IN THE WORLD

Tanzanian Black Pepper is an extraordinary spice that awakens the senses and adds a touch of spice to your dishes. Originally from the coastal region of Zanzibar , this pepper is renowned for its intense flavor and captivating aroma.

I have never seen such a hot pepper in my life with a citric touch, it is incredible. For me it is the best black pepper and above all the rarest black pepper in the world because it offers two things that I love: incredible, strong spiciness and a touch of citrus. It is also one of the few peppers to be grown in the southern hemisphere.

The characteristics of Tanzanian pepper are:

  • Intense Spicy  : Our pepper is considered one of the hottest in the world. We gave ours a 9.5 out of 10. Its heat unfolds gradually, leaving a pleasantly burning and stinging sensation on the tongue. But be careful, he has incredible notes that are developing.
  • Fruity and citric notes  : Tanzanian Black Pepper offers subtle notes of fruit and citrus, which makes it an ingredient of choice for grilled meats, salads but especially for red meats.
  • Versatility in the Kitchen  : Use it to enhance your grilled meats, your sauces, your marinades and even your chocolate desserts.

I am Arnaud Sion, creator of Comptoir de Toamasina and passionate about cooking and the search for spices, here is why choose black pepper from Tanzania:

  • Sensory Experience  : Discover an explosion of flavors in each use.
  • Authenticity  : Our pepper is grown in ideal conditions, Tanzania offers a unique climate for growing black pepper and drying it.
  • Commitment to Quality  : At  Comptoir de Toamasina , we are proud to offer you exceptional spices. We select the best weight which is 550g to 600g per liter for peppering. If we find 500g, we buy it.

Immerse yourself in the world of flavors with Tanzanian Black Pepper , a powerful variety little known in France, which enhances meats and all dishes with its unique character.

If you travel to Tanzania, you will be able to discover pepper plantations in the Kilimanjaro region. At harvest, the green bunches are harvested then sorted and then the pepper is dried in the sun. How can we see that it is a sun-dried pepper? It was in Brazil that I discovered the 3 types of drying, black pepper dried in the sun will have a beautiful wrinkled color and not smooth.

In Brazil, I saw that pepper is harvested by hand like in Madagascar.

I can say that this pepper is rare, because I have never seen a pepper with citrus notes and incredible spiciness. I like to say that rare black pepper from Tanzania is unique.

It is ideal for grilled meats and vegetables, offering a perfect balance between intense aromas and a lively and fresh nose. At Le Comptoir de Toamasina , we offer you this treasure from Tanzania in the kitchen, available in selected grains, presented in elegant bottles or in refillable pepper mills, guaranteeing the best price.

We do not yet sell Organic Tanzanian Black Pepper , but we are currently working on an organic Zanzibar pepper project.

Make the purchase online and do not hesitate to buy this black pepper from Tanzania for an unforgettable taste experience.

WHAT DOES TANZANIA PEPPER TASTE LIKE

Tanzanian Black Pepper is a symphony of flavors. A journey of the senses that is unique. It is better than black penja pepper from my point of view. Its nickname that can be found on the web is kilindi pepper. It is a piper nigrum and the most intense black colored piper.

Characteristics of Tanzanian Black Pepper:
  • Powerful Aroma  : Tanzanian black pepper is very concentrated in  piperine , which gives it its spiciness. Piperine is contained in the pericarp of black pepper. Its scent is extraordinary and very intense.
  • Subtle Citrus and Citrus Notes  : On the nose, it is immediately powerful, lively, but fresh, with nuances of citrus and lemon.
  • Incredible Hotness  : With a rating of  9.5 , this is the hottest pepper you offer, even rivaling the famous  Sarawak black pepper.

HOW TO USE TANZANIAN PEPPER IN COOKING

Tanzanian Black Pepper is an essential spice for creative chefs. Tanzanian pepper is ideal for red meats. I can even tell you that it is an ideal pepper for flavoring summer grills. I would like to tell you that if you want to make a homemade perfume, you can use it.

Its black grains give off a spicy flavor rated at 9.5 on the strength scale. Making it one of the hottest peppers available, surpassing even Sarawak black pepper.

To fully exploit the potential of this spice, I recommend that you follow my instructions, especially for desserts, fruity desserts, raw vegetables, and white meats, because it is very powerful:

How much Tanzanian Black Pepper should you use in your recipes?  Depending on the dish, between 1g and 1.5g , or approximately 2  turns of the mill, constitute a good average for daily cooking enhanced by this pepper.

It is important to note that Tanzanian Black Pepper can be used crushed or ground. To intensify its aromatic profile, it is recommended to roast it lightly before crushing it.

I suggest using cracked pepper for hot dishes and ground pepper for cold preparations, such as salad dressings or marinades. The ideal is to crush the pepper just after roasting it.

For a simple and tasty recipe, try grilled sea bream, sprinkling the fillets with a teaspoon of crushed Tanzanian Black Pepper. This spice adds a woody and fruity touch to fish.

For meat lovers, prepare a pepper sauce by adding crushed Tanzanian Black Peppercorns to your homemade sauce. Discover our video recipe on our blog.

To accompany roasted potatoes, roast and crush a teaspoon of Tanzanian Black Pepper, then sprinkle over the apples before putting them in the oven.

For a perfect steak, add a grind of Tanzanian Black Pepper at the end of cooking for a touch of heat and spice.

And for a surprising touch, incorporate it into a chocolate fondant for an explosion of vegetal, citrus and spicy flavors that will take your taste buds on a journey.

CHEF'S SECRETS: PERFECT ROASTING OF TANZANIAN BLACK PEPPER

Roasting is a key step to release the full bouquet of aromas of Tanzanian Black Pepper. If you love this power for its intense notes, then here you are going to have an explosion of flavor.

This ancestral culinary technique allows you to reveal the richness of its flavors and intensify its aromatic strength. You will discover it in my video.

  • The Traditional Roasting Method:  In my video, we reveal the chefs' secrets to roasting black pepper to perfection. You will learn how to heat the beans to their core, thus maximizing the expression of their character.
  • The Maillard Reaction: It is this chemical reaction which is responsible for the golden coloring and the amplification of flavors during roasting.

How to Roast Tanzanian Black Pepper:

  1. Place your pan on the heat at medium temperature.
  2. If you are preparing meat, add oil so that it absorbs the aromas of the pepper (if you are not making meat, omit the oil).
  3. Scatter 3g of peppercorns in the hot pan for four people, making sure they do not touch each other.
  4. Stir regularly to ensure even roasting.
  5. When the grains start to pop, remove them after one to two minutes, drain them on paper towels and let dry.
  6. Then crush the pepper and sprinkle it on your dish before serving.
  7. Roasting not only enhances the flavor of the pepper but also that of the oil, which takes on its aromatic notes when infused over low heat.

Chef's Tip:

Maintain a consistent temperature in the pan for even roasting.
