At Comptoir de Toamasina , we are proud to present our Acai Powder by the kilo . Our exceptional superfruit, from the Pinot Palm tree which is now possible to buy by the kilo.

Discover the magnificent acai powder, this freeze-dried acai powder comes from our first ranger expedition to Brazil. We went up to Tocantins then Para to discover an eco-responsible acai plantation. Our Acai is sold organic directly from our Counter in Brazil, but in France we do not renew licenses.

We are proud to participate in a plantation that practices reforestation in the Amazon, which offers health insurance to each of its employees, school for the children and other benefits. It is much better to work in a company than to be independent in Brazil.

Our commitment was to find a plantation where the acai pickers no longer climb the trees by hand but with forklifts. To guarantee the quality of our acai, the acai is powdered the same day to guarantee its freshness.

I am Arnaud Sion , the creator of Comptoir de Toamasina, and the best freeze-dried acai powder you can find in France.

HOW IS ACAI POWDERED?

Açaí, this fruit typical of the Amazon region, has become famous for its numerous health benefits, particularly thanks to its high antioxidant potential. One of the most popular forms of açaí consumption is in powder form, which can be used in various food products. Let me explain in more detail how açaí powder is obtained and why it is so valuable.

The Refraction Window Dehydration (RWD) Process

Le Comptoir de Toamasina and our Comptoir in Brazil, Le Comptoir Sion by Arnaud Vanille, wanted to purchase açai which comes from a pioneering company in innovation in the irrigated cultivation of açaí and which uses an advanced technology called Refractance Window Drying (RWD) for dehydrating açaí and other fruits. Discover how the açai from Comptoir de Toamasina is powdered:

  1. Preparation of the Fruit :

    • After selecting and analyzing the fruits, the stone is removed to obtain pure, whole juice. You should know that the stone makes up 90% of the berry in the summer harvest and 70% in the winter harvest.
    • This juice is then poured onto a thin transparent film, forming a sort of “window”.
  2. Radiant Energy Transfer :

    • The RWD system uses the conductive capacity of water.
    • Heated water transfers radiant energy through three active heat transfer modes: conduction, convection and radiation.
  3. Gentle and Effective Drying :

    • The juice moves on a conveyor belt (Mylar sheet).
    • By evaporation of water, moisture from the product is removed in approximately 5 to 10 minutes.
    • The temperature is controlled between 30 and 70 degrees, preserving the nutritional and sensory properties of the fruit.
  4. Nutrient Conservation :

    • The RWD process preserves the phytonutrients, vitamins, minerals, fats, color and flavor of the açaí.
    • It is particularly effective at retaining anthocyanins, preserving up to 90% of these powerful antioxidants.

Benefits of RWD Açaí Powder

  • High Antioxidant Content :

    • Unlike other dehydration methods, açaí powder obtained by RWD has a uniform structure and no porosity.
    • This reduces oxidation and the formation of free radicals.
    • The content of polyphenols and anthocyanins is high, confirming the effectiveness of this process.
  • Extended Shelf Life :

    • Thanks to the low water activity and the rigor of the production process, Açaí açaí powder from Comptoir de Toamasina has a longer shelf life.
    • It offers greater application versatility and can meet the requirements of remote markets.
  • Why buy acai at Comptoir de Toamasina

    • We buy from a grower who grows açaí plants with care, using an automated irrigation system.
    • Harvesting takes place under ideal conditions to maintain high anthocyanin levels.
    • The disinfection and laboratory analysis process guarantees the quality of the final product.

As you can see, the acai powder from Comptoir de Toamasina was chosen for its quality and preservation of the environment and not for a price or a story.

Arnaud, the creator of Comptoir de Toamasina lives in Brazil and today knows the consequences of global warming and shares his point of view with you.

To make acai juice, acai pulp, acai ice cream, it is by purchasing acai powder that you will be able to do it at once and be able to add the homemade flavor.

You should know that acai pulp can only have 11 or 13% acai in dry matter.

WHY DID LE COMPTOIR DE TOAMASINA CHOOSE TO BUY FROM AN ACAI PLANTATION?

Le Comptoir de Toamasina wanted to purchase açai which comes from a project.

The company from which we buy is recognized worldwide for its commitment to ecological sustainability, stands out for its pioneering spirit and innovation in açaí production processes. Here's how it stands out:

  1. Strict Quality Standard:  It applies a rigorous quality standard, reducing production line time. Less oxidation of the fruit means a raw material that better preserves polyphenols and anthocyanins.

  2. Local Job Generation:  Located in Pará, it contributes positively to the generation of legal jobs in the region. She also engages in social projects for the well-being of the local community.

  3. Modern and Sustainable Production Chain:

    • Cultivation of Plants:  Production begins with the cultivation of plants in the nursery. After a year, the plants are transplanted into the field. The selection of palm trees takes into account the size of their “sword” and their pollination capacity.
    • Apiary for Native Bees:  It raises native bees, promoting pollination and reducing CO2 emissions.
    • Automated Irrigation:  An automated irrigation system regularly delivers water and nutrients to plants, ensuring standardized fruit growth and high anthocyanin levels.
    • Selective Harvesting:  After four years of cultivation, the açaí palm trees are finally producing. The harvest is done in compliance with safety standards, with selected mature bunches.
    • Night Transportation:  Fruits are transported to the industrial complex at night to avoid exposure to excessive heat and light.
    • Sanitation:  On arrival at the complex, the fruits are disinfected by sieving and washing with ozone, without chemicals.
    • Laboratory Analysis:  Before and after processing, the fruits undergo in-depth physicochemical analysis, guaranteeing the quality of the final product.

Le Comptoir de Toamasina wants to work with Brazilian companies that embody modernity, sustainability and environmental preservation, making its açaí one of the best in the world.

ACAI CULTIVATION IN A FEW WORDS TO GROW IT IN YOUR GARDEN

Açaí, this emblematic fruit of the Amazon region, can also find its place in your own garden. Here's how you can grow it sustainably and beneficially:

  1. Açaí varieties:

    • Açaí Violet:  The most common, it sports a deep wine red pulp, often called “açaí wine”.
    • White Açaí:  Less common, it produces a slightly creamy juice.
  2. Cultivation Conditions:

    • Sun:  Açaí trees can be grown in full sun or shade. However, those grown in full sun are generally more productive.
    • Choice of Location:  Use areas covered with forests, cultivated tree species (rubber trees, clove trees, cocoa trees, etc.) or cleared herbaceous vegetation.
  3. Plant Production:

    • Selection of Mother Plants:  Choose matrices taking into account the diameter of the stem, the number of leaves and the phytosanitary status. The selected trees must be close to other individuals of the same species in the growth phase.
    • Harvesting Fruits:  Harvest fruits when they are black and opaque, almost waxy in color. Only harvest fruit still attached to the cluster.
    • Seed Preparation:  Unpulped seeds have slow and uneven germination. If you pulp them and place them in a favorable environment (around 28°C), they will germinate around 20 days after sowing.
  4. Pulping method:

    • Simple and Practical:  Wash the fruits, package them in a plastic bag (like a fertilizer bag) and let them rest in the shade for two or three days. Then wash them under running water to remove the rest of the pulp.
  5. Sowing:

    • Direct Planting:  Sow the seeds in the final location.
    • Sowing in Bags:  For later transplanting, sow the seeds in black polyethylene bags.
